    This book is part of the material designed for a teaching research project developed at the School of Psychology of the University of Granada (Spain) during the years of 2008-2010. The project was aimed at comparing Second Language Teaching (SLT) approaches in content subjects at the tertiary level of education. The two SLT approaches compared were Total Linguistic Immersion and Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) and the content subjects were Cognitive Neuroscience and Neuropsicología Cognitiva. The whole report on the development of the project, including the theoretical framework, description of participants, the methodology used, results obtained and conclusions, together with the rest of materials, have been published by this house under the title of Integración de Contenidos e Idiomas en Educación Superior.
    The teaching materials in this book were especially designed for the practice lessons of Neuropsicología Cognitiva, which was taught using CLIL, and are student-oriented with the purpose of fostering autonomous learning as complementary to teacher-led sessions. The units relate to authentic research articles published by some of the most relevant scientific journals in the area of Cognitive Neurosicence to which full bibliographical reference is provided. Tasks are contrived to develop reading skills for a comprehensive approach to research articles and are therefore mainly focused on content (anticipating, gathering general and specific information, rephrasing, skimming and scanning, etc). Lexical aspects are approached form a strictly technical point of view and grammar content and exercises are restricted to textual features that are characteristic of scientific discourse and structure, and whose command may enhance a comprehensive, profesional approach to the reading of research articles.
