The first comic book published by the Museo del Prado, the work of the well-known illustrator Max, is a unique approach to the dazzling world created by Bosch, published on the occasion of the celebration of the fifth centenary of the death of this unrepeatable artist. Max (Francesc Capdevila), winner of the 2007 Premio Nacional de Cómic, offers us in this book a narrative-visual approach to the work of Bosch. Through a plot that weaves together three of his paintings exhibited in the Museo del Prado, the reader is taken on a journey through Bosch's themes and motifs, based on imagination as torment, melancholy as self-absorption and the pictorial expression of the infinite variety of the world as awe and enchantment. With the reflective humour characteristic of his vignettes, Max focuses his gaze on the characters in the paintings, giving them a voice and putting them into action, in an unprecedented and highly unconventional approach to the mysteries of Bosch's painting.
